ARTICLES > Ten
Years of Sweet Smelling Success
by Peggy Carey
My upcoming 10 year anniversary with Young Living has given me reason to
reflect on this exciting journey from being in debt and miserable to enjoying
life, being financially secure, becoming a published author, a jewelry designer
(aromatherapy pendants), a holistic health teacher, and most importantly,
a Young Living distributor. My ten year affiliation with Young Living has
definitely been the wind beneath my wings and the primary reason for my
success.
Through my Young Living business I have met people who will forever have
a special place in my heart and who continue to motivate and inspire me.
Oils help us attract certain individuals with whom we have such a deep connection
and natural affinity that they enrich our lives, empower us to be all we
can be, and make us feel complete.
Having learned of the dynamics of holistic healing with natural remedies
through an experience with a cat companion, I hosted the country’s
first Natural Pet Care Expo in 1996. In November 1997 I was preparing the
program for my second Natural Pet Care Expo and looking for presenters of
holistic modalities. Since I had just signed up with Young Living in September,
I did not know enough about oils to do an animal application presentation
so I invited Dr. Young to come to Northern Virginia to be a presenter. I
was delighted when Mary called and accepted the invitation.
We set up a Young Living booth along with holistic pet product exhibitors
from all over the country and Mary rolled up her sleeves armed with a stack
of Essential 7 kits. It was a weekend event, but by the end of the first
day, all the Essential 7 kits were gone. After Dr. Young finished each presentation
he came back to our booth with all of the attendees following him. He prepared
a special handout for the booth detailing oil applications for animals which
is now the animal section of the EODR. I’ll be forever grateful for
what Mary and Gary did that weekend to give me a new life. As you can imagine,
my business got off to a great start!
My background was non-profit management with a focus on fundraising, and
resource and volunteer development. My people skills became a great asset
in my YL business and my leadership, teaching, training, and management
skills were just the ticket to make network marketing work. I started holding
monthly meetings/classes and have continued to build my business by teaching
either through presentations or writing. My nickname, “the Zest Lady”came
from an article I wrote about using oils for Pursuing Postmenopausal Zest.
After the article showed up on several major holistic health websites, the
name stuck.
In the Fall of 2006 I had two major accomplishments............I made Gold
with Young Living and I designed a new style aromatherapy pendant (see press
release below) which has been a big hit with many essential oil fans especially
my downline. They have found it to be a great tool to build their business
as well as a handy way to wear and benefit from the oils. Because of the
beauty of the wood (handturned by my husband), I find that perfect strangers
will ask me about my “necklace”. It has been a great way to
start a conversation about the oils. A lot of people have told me that the
combination of the pendant and YL oils has helped them overcome many chronic
health problems.
My invention of the Whiffer™ has been my contribution to oil sharing
efforts and a great way for me to give back some of the abundance I’ve
attracted as a user and distributor of YLEO. Because of Young Living, life
just keeps getting better and better. At this rate I can’t imagine
what the next 10 years will bring.
Note: Peggy lives with her husband of seven years and her gang of rescued
cats in a small mountain town in West Virginia.
