“Let thy food be thy medicine” is a quote by Hippocrates that has become a modern day mantra in a few circles and ignored in most others. It has been scientifically proven to be a valid concept and one that I personally endorse.

Food can be our medicine or our poison depending on our dietary choices. Choose food that will nourish your body and not just fill your stomach.  This principle is important throughout all stages of life, but has special significance as we age.

In order for healing to occur, we must provide the body what it needs to repair itself. There are many side effects to the Standard American Diet (SAD) - obesity, cancer, asthma, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and a host of others. Despite the damage such a diet is causing, many of us continue to eat it, because it tastes good, is easily available,  or because it satisfies some emotional need.

Your goal should be to eat a diet that consists of foods that are nutrient rich and vibrating at higher energies. This means eating more raw living plant foods with natural biophotonic or life force energy and accompanying  nutrients - vitamins, minerals, enzymes, anti-oxidants, amino acids, and phytochemicals. Not only is this energy passed on to us, nutrients in this organic form are the only ones our bodies can absorb and utilize. Artificial vitamins and minerals in supplement form are not recognized by our systems and are either flushed out as waste or are stored in our bodies to cause problems later down the road.

They have more energy, need less sleep, excess fat dissolves without the feeling of deprivation, the desire to overeat diminishes, skin becomes smooth and glowing, hair grows thicker, and minor complaints like acne or allergies disappear. Physical and mental senses sharpen and intuition or psychic abilities increase. There is a feeling of well being as the outlook on life improves dramatically and there is a feeling of being more dynamic, radiant, charismatic, and confident. Most raw foodists actually report an improvement in digestion since it takes 48-100 hours to digest cooked food (sometimes it remains undigested) and only 18-36 hours for raw food.

People who make the switch to raw food are usually surprised to find that there is a big change in their mental health and discover they are more creative,  experience mental clarity, better concentration and increased  memory and alertness. Athletes report an increase in strength, energy, and stamina. 

In spite of all this many people complain that eating raw food or juicing is expensive and more time consuming than opening a can or stopping at the nearest fast food outlet. AIM International provides the perfect solution to both problems............lack of time and money.

Studies show that juice can provide most of the basics of human nutrition, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals, as well as phytochemicals and enzymes. They have been found by the American Dietetic Association to be beneficial in counteracting at least four of the leading causes of death....cardiac disease, diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. One cup of raw beets contains phosphorous, sodium, magnesium, calcium, iron, and potassium as well as vitamin A, niacin, folic acid, and biotin. When these nutrients are captured in a juicing process, they remain in a form that is much easier to assimilate than synthetic nutrients. The iron in beet juice is noted for being more easily assimilated than other forms of iron supplements.

Potassium is essential for all cellular functions. Along with sodium, it regulates water balance and acidity-alkalinity (pH)  balance in the blood and tissues. It is often depleted with aging, in degenerative disorders, and with a diet that is high in refined sugar and processed foods.

Historically, beet roots have been known to have medicinal properties, specifically anti-hepatotoxic effects, or the ability to counter damaging effects on the liver. For the past three or four centuries it has been thought to be beneficial for the detoxification of the liver, and they were used for the treatment of hepatitis. Theories suggest that they effectively limit fat deposits in the liver, probably because of their high concentration of betaine.

Betaine is often referred to as the lipotropic factor because of this ability to help the liver process fats. Betaine also plays a role in reducing homocysteine. High levels of homocysteine are associated with cardiovascular and many other diseases, so betaine is believed to support cardiovascular health.

Beets also contain biochanin A, a potential cancer fighting agent.

Quercetin, found in the faba bean, field pea, and spinach leaves belongs to a group of plant pigments, flavonoids that are partly responsible for the color of many fruits and vegetables. Unlike the synthetic form of quercetin dihydrate found in most supplements, the quercetin found in AIM LeafGreens occurs naturally in the leaves. This is important because synthetic quercetin dihydrate is not soluble in water. Thus consumption of this synthetic compound provides no meaningful benefits. The natural quercetin found in AIM LeafGreens is more bioavailable and absorbable.

The flavonoid quercetin offers a variety of potential therapeutic uses and benefits. Recent research studies have found quercetin to inhibit the production and release of histamine and other allergic and inflammatory substances. Quercetin can also inhibit the aggregation of platelets (abnormal clotting), fibrin, and other blood components that cause obstruction of blood vessels. This flavonoid binds selectively to platelet aggregation on blood vessel walls and restores the natural compound prostacyclin, a vasodilator (opens blood vessels). In other words, quercetin has an anti-clotting function that may help improve circulation.

The anti-inflammatory properties of quercetin have been researched extensively. In one study, quercetin inhibited the inflammation in joints for those with arthritis. There have been several reports of people with rheumatoid arthritis, Parkinson’s, and fibromylagia who have increased their flavonoid intakes and experienced symptom relief.

Quercetin is also involved in the reduced production of uric acid. This occurs when the flavonoid inhibits the xanthine oxidase which can ease gout symptoms.

The flavonoid kaempferol is found within the field pea. faba bean, and spinach leaves. Kaempferol inhibits the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and the formation of platelet clusters in the blood, potentially providing benefits for those with arteriosclerosis. This compound has also been found to be a component of the diuretic and natriuretic peptide (polypeptide hormones that regulate the water-sodium balance in the blood), improving urination and the functioning of the kidney cells, thus increasing permeability and circulation. Kaempferol thus improves kidney function by moderating water retention, and blood glucose levels, which are secondary symptoms of diabetes.

In a population study conducted from 976 to 1998 in the Nurses’ Health Study it was observed that women who consumed higher amounts of kaempferol were less likely to die of heart disease than women with lower intakes.

AIM PROPEAS™ 

Protein is key to living well. The human body needs a significant amount of protein in relation to vitamins and minerals. Protein keeps body tissue healthy by building up, maintaining, and replacing the tissues that compose our muscles, organs, and immune system. Proteins are composed of amino acids that, once consumed, are used individually by the body for a number of necessary functions including the creation of enzymes and hormones. Alone, humans are only able to naturally produce about one-half of the necessary amino acids that are most important for sustained health. The rest must be derived from protein-rich foods.

The fact that our bodies do not store all the protein that we require makes protein different from fat and carbohydrates. While the latter two can be drawn upon when needed, the same cannot be said for protein, which makes getting an adequate amount in our diets that much more important.

Soy protein poses problems in its growing and production process. Nine out of 10 soybeans in the U.S. are Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), which 30 countries deem to be unsafe. Soy is also high in fats, and removing these fats to attain concentrated protein requires the use of solvents. The soy carcinogen furan is also a potential risk when consuming soy proteins.

Fifty percent of all children are allergic to whey, which comes from milk and is a by -product of cheese production. Whey products can also contain antibiotics and hormones that were given to the cows to increase milk production and are gas producing for some people.

The amino acids in ProPeas have been shown to benefit human growth and development, athletic performance, and recovery from stress. It also contains Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) that are vital to delaying the aging process by maintaining the body’s current muscle mass.
